Minolta SRT-101: Where Manual Photography Starts to Click

The Minolta SRT-101 has taught generations that manual photography can feel intuitive, not intimidating, and we’ve lovingly restored this one so you can also have that same feeling, and maybe...fall in love with photography.

Class is back in session with the Minolta SRT-101 and is for anyone who has ever wondered about the art that actually happens between spotting a moment and pressing the shutter. Born in the 1960s, this beautifully solid 35mm SLR puts aperture, shutter speed and focus right at your fingertips, then rewards you with one of the most satisfying clicks in film photography.

Manual does not mean mysterious, though. Minolta’s through-the-lens CLC light meter gives you an easy pair of needles inside the viewfinder: line them up, focus and you’re ready to make the picture. The included 50mm f/1.7 Rokkor lens feels natural for portraits, travel and everyday life, while its bright aperture can create softly blurred backgrounds that make your favorite people pop. It’s the kind of camera that teaches you photography without ever feeling like homework.

Why You’ll Love It

• Learn Exposure as You Shoot: Minolta’s built-in CLC light meter uses simple follower needles to show when your aperture and shutter speed are properly balanced.
• A Lens for Everyday Magic: The included 50mm f/1.7 Rokkor lens is a wonderfully versatile choice for portraits, adventures, lower-light moments and softly blurred backgrounds.
• Mechanical Where It Matters: The shutter operates without a battery, so the battery is only needed for the light meter—not for making photographs.
• Satisfyingly Hands-On: From focusing the lens to advancing the film, every tactile control helps you slow down, pay attention and feel connected to the photograph.
• Restored with Love at Cute Camera Co: Every Minolta SRT-101 is lovingly restored by the Cute Camera Co. team so it works just like it did back in the summer of 1966.
